Our client is seeking a driven and hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function within a growing, multi-location organization. Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
Oversee the preparation and submission of monthly financial statements within a 5-day close cycle
Ensure accuracy across trial balances, reconciliations, and sub-ledgers
Manage all accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, payroll, and deal posting
Monitor financial performance and analyze trends, variances, and key metrics
Support annual audits and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements
Business Partnership & Strategy
Act as a strategic advisor to operational leaders and senior management
Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Provide insights into profitability, cost control, and operational efficiency
Support decision-making related to compensation plans, vendor management, and expense controls
Manage working capital and cash flow, including capital allocation oversight
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Train and mentor team members across multiple accounting functions
Support recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning initiatives
Process Improvement & Controls
Implement and standardize accounting processes and best practices
Drive automation, reporting enhancements, and system efficiencies
Ensure compliance with financial controls, company policies, and industry requirements
Identify opportunities to improve workflows and eliminate inefficiencies
Operational Support
Maintain a strong understanding of operational systems and processes
Oversee inventory accounting and periodic inventory counts
Support ongoing projects, integrations, and process improvement initiatives
The Ideal Candidate
Required
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and reporting
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
CPA designation or currently pursuing CPA
Previous automotive dealership experience
Experience with dealership management systems and related software
Experience with business intelligence tools and financial reporting systems
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary ranging from $90,000–$150,000 based on experience
