Position Overview:


We are seeking a Vice President of Construction to lead all construction operations across Western Canada. Reporting directly to the COO, this executive position is responsible for managing a diverse project portfolio and overseeing regional teams to ensure profitability, client satisfaction, and adherence to the highest industry standards.

The successful candidate will bring a strategic mindset, extensive general contracting experience, and a hands-on approach to leadership. This is an opportunity to shape the growth of a high-performing construction business with the support of a dedicated executive team.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Align construction operations with overall corporate objectives

  • Provide strategic oversight to regional offices and project teams

  • Support expansion in Edmonton and Calgary markets (Vancouver knowledge considered an asset)

Operations & Team Management

  • Oversee 30+ active projects ranging from $500K to $40M across Petroleum (50%), Commercial (25%), and Residential (25%) sectors

  • Lead monthly cost-to-complete reviews, risk assessments, and forecasting

  • Manage bi-weekly planning sessions for staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation

  • Ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery across all job sites

Financial & Business Performance

  • Drive profitability by enhancing buyout strategies and vendor relationships

  • Collaborate on project resourcing and financial forecasting

  • Monitor and improve operational KPIs, including margins and performance targets

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Contribute to major project pursuits and client relationship building

  • Represent the company at industry events and networking engagements

  • Review and approve subcontractor agreements while managing associated risk

Risk & Compliance

  • Maintain high standards for risk management and regulatory compliance

  • Ensure consistency across provincial building codes and operational practices

Site & Team Engagement

  • Conduct regular site visits and maintain strong field presence

  • Lead performance reviews, provide real-time coaching, and foster a culture of accountability

Requirements:

  • Executive leadership experience in commercial, petroleum, or residential construction

  • Proven ability to manage large-scale, multi-office operations

  • Expertise in cost control, project planning, and subcontractor management

  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills

  • Deep understanding of construction risk management and compliance

  • Based in or willing to relocate to Edmonton or Calgary

What We Offer:

  • Salary: $185,000 – $190,000/year

  • Annual bonus: Up to 10%, tied to company financial performance

  • 4 weeks of vacation (negotiable)

  • RRSP matching after 1 year (negotiable to start earlier)
