A specialized engineering firm is seeking a Senior Process Engineer with expertise in gas processing systems to support both proposal and project execution phases. This role requires a highly technical candidate who can independently run simulations, size equipment, and contribute to high-stakes quoting and design work across multi-million-dollar projects.

·         Hours: Monday–Friday, full-time (onsite)

·         Reporting To: Engineering Manager

Key Responsibilities

Process Simulation & Design

·         Lead simulation efforts using Promax and Aspen HYSYS to support both proposals and project execution.

·         Model complex systems including refrigeration plants (propane/gas loops) and separator trains for gas processing facilities.

·         Run simulations and validate performance guarantees for systems ranging from $10M to $100M in capital scope.

·         Estimate flow rates and pressure drops, perform daily process calculations, and size equipment such as reboilers, exchangers, and pumps.

Quoting & Proposal Support

·         Execute simulations during the RFP/quoting stage (typical cycle: 1–2 weeks), providing accurate technical input and supporting capital estimates.

·         Collaborate with inside sales, estimating, and vendors to finalize performance data and pricing—frequently interfacing with suppliers like Cal Hex and ALCO.

Engineering Documentation

·         Draft and develop detailed PFDs and P&IDs (conceptualizing required; drafting support provided).

·         Correlate technical design to system performance guarantees and client specifications for refrigeration and compression packages.

·         Cross-Functional Collaboration

·         Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across estimating, design, and project management to ensure design intent and project deliverables align.

·         Attend client meetings as the technical authority (minimal travel; this is an office-based role).

Qualifications

·         4+ years of Process Engineering experience, with a strong preference for gas processing plant or facility backgrounds.

·         P.Eng designation is required (APEGA registration or immediate eligibility).

·         Advanced knowledge of Promax and Aspen HYSYS is mandatory.

·         Familiarity with refrigeration system design (propane/gas loops), process input/output modeling, and facility sizing for midstream applications.

·         Proficient in quoting support: experience simulating systems and providing equipment sizing for proposals and projects valued at $10M–$100M.

·         Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical ideas clearly through conceptual drafting or written documentation.

·         Proven ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and provide leadership in simulation and technical development.

Compensation & benefits

·         Salary Range: $120,000–$150,000/year depending on experience and P.Eng status

·         Vacation: 3 to 4 weeks (negotiable based on seniority)
