Territory Chemical Sales Representative

About:

We are seeking a driven, bilingual Territory Sales Representative to take over and grow an existing territory in Western Ontario, including Mississauga West, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, and the surrounding corridor. This is a rare opportunity to step into a role with an active book of business, strong internal support, and high growth potential across industrial, commercial, healthcare, and food manufacturing sectors.

Territory Overview & Opportunity

  • Current Territory Value: $600K to $650K

  • Target Growth: $350K in new sales within the first 12 months

  • Client Base: ~30 clients in the West, including 6 key healthcare sites receiving sanitizing services

  • Inherited Accounts: 3 major clients (~$500K+), currently managed by the Sales Director, will transition to this role

  • Corporate Lead Support: Ongoing inbound leads from national and multi-site corporate clients (some with 40–60 Canadian locations)

  • East Region Reference: For comparison, the East territory manages $1.6M in sales across 110 clients

Client Types & Sales Cycles

  • Service-Focused Clients (85–95%): High-touch relationships, ongoing support, typically visited monthly or semi-monthly

  • Product-Focused Clients: Less frequent touchpoints, self-sufficient accounts

  • New Business Expectations:

    • First 3 months: $10K–$20K in new revenue (training, onboarding, pipeline development)

    • Next 3–6 months: $50K–$100K from new or converted clients

    • Long-term goal: $200K+ in new business by year-end

Product Scope

Core Offerings:

    • Cleaning and sanitizing chemicals

    • Equipment for dispensing (pumps, sprayers, foamers)

Target Segments:

    • Meat and poultry processing

    • Sauce and egg production

    • General food manufacturing and healthcare cleaning

  • Heavy in ON due to local HQs of Diversy, Ecolab, Canadian Sanimarc, Zepp, and subsidiaries

Key Responsibilities

  • Territory Management: Western Ontario, occasional support in Mississauga East

  • Client Servicing:

    • Scheduled site visits and technical support

    • ISO-compliant service reviews and reporting

    • Overnight and late-evening visits as required (1–2x/month)

      • Example: Midnight audits at London, ON plant, concluding by 4:30AM

  • Forecasting & Reporting:

    • Build yearly forecasts based on historicals and pipeline

    • Track all client activity and service levels

  • New Business Development:

    • Leverage corporate leads and personal network

    • Attend client audits, address on-site issues, build long-term rapport

  • Bilingual Requirement: French/English for quarterly visits to Quebec East and support for 4 MTL-based clients

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Chemical Background Preferred: Hands-on experience in lab, raw materials, or chemical sales (not just equipment or distribution)

  • Service-Driven Mindset: Demonstrated success in supporting technical equipment (dispensers, monitoring tools)

  • Strong Planning & Follow-Through: Ability to own a territory, prioritize service calls, and proactively develop business

  • Bilingual (French/English): Essential for Quebec coordination

Compensation & Perks

  • Base Salary: $55,000–$65,000 (under review; commission eligibility tied to base level)

  • Commission Plan:

    • Threshold: $62,500 yearly sales minimum

    • 3% commission: Earned on sales between $62,501 and $80,000

    • 7% commission: On all sales exceeding $80,000

    • New Client Bonus: 7% on any new client revenue ≥ $10K

    • Monthly Bonus: $400 for hitting monthly forecast

  • Car Options:

    • Company vehicle (fully paid – insurance, fuel, repairs, winter tires)

    • OR $1,250/month car allowance (not taxed at source)

  • Vacation & Benefits:

    • 2–3 weeks vacation to start (negotiable)

    • Full medical, dental, and health coverage (100%)

    • Life and disability insurance (employee-paid)

    • Mental health days

    • No RRSP at this time (under review)

  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, flexing around client demands and occasional night work

  • Expected First-Year Earnings: $75,000–$80,000

Travel Requirements

  • Monthly travel to Montreal for client servicing

  • Regional travel throughout the West ON corridor

  • Preference for candidates living in Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, or Guelph
