Business Intelligence Analyst

About Us

We’re hiring a confident and collaborative Business Intelligence Analyst to take ownership of reporting, dashboarding, and insights delivery across multiple departments—including direct access to the C-Suite. This position will start as part of the Finance team but is slated to shift into the newly forming Digital/Data department. You’ll be working with large structured data sets from SQL databases and JSON APIs to deliver data-driven recommendations that influence business direction at the executive level.

You’ll bring your SQL and Power BI skills to a high-impact environment where visualizations are built from scratch and standards are still being developed. The role is a hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 remote) after onboarding, and you’ll be collaborating with stakeholders across finance, operations, product, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

Analyze Complex Data Sets

  • Work with structured data from SQL databases and APIs (primarily JSON) to uncover patterns, trends, and actionable insights.

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (50%) and predefined reporting (50%).

  • Focus areas include loan book values, sales and performance growth, collections, marketing acquisition metrics, people data, and location-based salesforce performance.

  • Apply statistical techniques and data mining methods to identify leading indicators.

Create Visualizations

  • Build intuitive dashboards and interactive reports using Power BI.

  • Establish and standardize visualization design templates—building from scratch.

  • Customize visualizations for non-technical executive users (e.g., CFO, CEO, CMO, etc.).

  • Dashboards are primarily daily-use views updated on a monthly basis.

Present Insights to Executives and Stakeholders

  • Share insights through automated dashboards and ad hoc one-pagers.

  • Deliver both high-level summaries and detailed data explorations, depending on audience.

  • Communicate clearly to non-technical stakeholders using narrative-driven visuals.

  • Address common challenges such as inconsistent definitions and variable data literacy.

Collaborate Cross-Functionally

  • Engage in stakeholder interviews and workshops to gather requirements.

  • Balance input from executives, directors, and teams across Product, Finance, Marketing, Client Services, HR, and IT.

  • Facilitate better communication processes between departments; expected to lead improvements.

  • Navigate limited capacity challenges by driving prioritization and alignment.

Ensure Data Quality

  • Perform data integrity checks using source-of-truth "loan book" data.

  • Proactively troubleshoot discrepancies and contribute to governance practices.

  • Help define, implement, and enforce consistent data definitions.

  • Serve as a key contributor to evolving governance standards post-system implementation.

Design and Implement Data Models

  • Develop scalable and flexible data models using direct access to modeling tools.

  • Work with data engineers to optimize pipelines and support new system architecture.

  • Models must be adaptable to future expansion and changing data needs.

Provide Ad-Hoc Analysis

  • Respond to ad-hoc requests across departments, using ticketing system and prioritization meetings.

  • Use full autonomy to determine appropriate methodology and delivery format.

  • Deliver high-impact insights, particularly around operational performance and product recovery trends by region.

Monitor BI System Performance

  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in BI tools and dashboards.

  • Work with IT to upgrade systems and integrate improvements.

  • Contribute to upcoming infrastructure changes and enhancements.

Stay Current with Industry Trends

  • Encouraged to explore and test new BI tools, techniques, and AI/ML applications.

  • Supported in professional development via training, conferences, and online resources.

  • Expected to be a knowledge leader in emerging trends in visualization and analytics.

Promote a Data-Driven Culture

  • Educate departments on interpreting dashboards and using data in decision-making.

  • Assist in building data literacy through tools training, documentation, and resource development.

  • Help embed a culture of evidence-based decision-making across the organization.
