Director, Business Development

An Edmonton client is searching for a Director, Business Development, to join their team.

Director, Business Development Highlights:

Overview: As the Director of Business Development, you will be responsible for leading and developing the marketing team, with a focus on hiring a proposal coordinator. Your primary objective will be to land new commercial clients and capitalize on opportunities regularly. You will work closely with the CEO, COO, and other key stakeholders to develop and maintain client relationships, prepare and present proposals, and conduct market research analysis. We are seeking a highly skilled individual with extensive experience in the construction industry, a proven track record of closing projects, and exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

·         Client Relationship Development & Management:

·         Lead and develop the marketing team, with the goal of hiring a proposal coordinator to support business development efforts.

·         Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective clients, including top 10 clients, through regular communication and engagement activities such as monthly lunches or phone calls.

·         Collaborate with the CEO and COO to enhance existing client relationships and identify opportunities for growth.

·         Organize industry nights, group gatherings, office meetings, and lunch meetings to foster networking opportunities and strengthen client relationships.

·         New Business Development:

·         Focus on landing new commercial clients, ranging from $1M to $50M in contract value, with no specification on contract length.

·         Identify and pursue opportunities for short-term tenant improvements and longer-term construction projects.

·         Develop strategies to capitalize on opportunities and expand the company's client base.

·         Proposal Preparation & Presentation:

·         Work with a third party to complete proposal documents, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in conveying value propositions.

·         Aim to complete 5 to 6 proposals per month, with an average turnaround time of 1 to 2 months.

·         Market Research Analysis:

·         Encourage networking within the business development team and industry networks to gather market intelligence and identify opportunities.

·         Conduct research on commercial construction trends, market demand, and competitor activities to inform business development strategies and decision-making.

·         Requirements:

·         7 years of experience in a construction-related space, with a proven track record of closing construction projects and identifying opportunities.

·         Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

·         High skill and aptitude with technology, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

·         Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to lead and develop a high-performing marketing team.

Director, Business Development Hours & Wage

·         8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday

·         $140,000 - $170,000/Year
