About the Role
Our client is seeking a motivated and technically driven Design Engineer I / Design Technologist I to join their Engineering team. This role is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, analyzing, testing, and documenting completion tools used in complex down-hole applications. The successful candidate will support product development initiatives while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, operational requirements, and safety protocols. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Engineering
Complete small to medium design projects with moderate supervision
Develop models, drawings, calculations, testing procedures, and technical documentation required to move projects from concept to production
Conceptualize and design completion tools for complex down-hole applications
Conduct analysis, verification, and validation testing of engineering designs
Research new technologies, materials, and industry standards to support innovation and continuous improvement
Provide recommendations to improve efficiencies in product design and engineering processes
Technical Documentation & Support
Revise and maintain engineering drawings and models to ensure compliance with company standards
Review technical documents for accuracy and completeness
Provide engineering guidance to manufacturing, assembly, testing, and operations teams
Support other Designers and Engineering team members on product development initiatives
Ensure compliance with API-Q1, ISO standards, and Health & Safety programs
The Ideal Candidate
Required
0–4 years of experience in a similar engineering or design role
Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude
Knowledge of engineering principles, concepts, and industry practices
Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Strong technical communication and drafting knowledge
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience with down-hole tools or oilfield operations considered an asset
Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or related field) or equivalent experience
APEGA or ASET membership considered an asset
Knowledge of ISO/API Q1 standards considered an asset
Experience within manufacturing, oil & gas, or industrial environments considered an asset
Physical & Safety Requirements
May require lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs.
Extended periods of sitting and computer-based work
Subject to post-incident and reasonable-cause drug & alcohol testing
