We are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator with strong Ceridian Dayforce expertise to join our Shared Services Payroll team. This position supports Canadian payroll operations and requires someone who is not only a capable processor, but also a critical thinker, troubleshooter, and team collaborator.

Job Title: Payroll Administrator
Term: 6-9 month contract - possibility of extension or permanent hire
Schedule: 5 Days a week - 1-2 days in office
Compensation: $31-$36/Hour - $65K-75K/Year (If transferred permanent)
Start Date: Immediate
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
Support the end-to-end Canadian payroll process using Ceridian Dayforce.
Independently manage assigned weekly pay groups—ensuring accuracy, validation, and reconciliation of timecards.
Validate imported timecards (no manual data entry) to ensure correct hours are pulled into payroll; reconcile discrepancies and report summaries.
Collaborate closely with the HR onboarding team to verify employee setup, benefits, and deductions; proactively flag and resolve discrepancies.
Uphold payroll integrity and confidentiality while following all internal processes and controls.
Data Analysis
Troubleshoot Dayforce calculation issues, using analytical and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve errors before escalating.
Assist in compiling weekly payroll statistics and reports for internal tracking.
Additional Responsibilities
Prepare and process ROEs weekly through Dayforce (no Service Canada login required).
Participate in ad hoc troubleshooting projects or configuration initiatives (earnings/deduction codes, setup review, etc.).
Communicate effectively across teams in Canada and the U.S. (Houston), maintaining alignment and sharing knowledge across the payroll group.
Team & Work Environment
Join a team of 3, including members in Nisku and Houston.
Hybrid work model – 1–2 days/week in the Nisku office (shared payroll office for privacy).
Support 500–1,000 employees weekly across a dynamic construction environment.
Collaborative culture: team members work independently but regularly consult to ensure accuracy across pay groups.
Leadership emphasizes coaching, knowledge sharing, and mentorship—you’ll be encouraged to both learn and teach.
Ideal Candidate
Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or equivalent experience an asset.
3+ years of payroll experience, with deep knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce (Canadian payroll required; U.S. payroll an asset).
Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset—able to identify, investigate, and resolve system or calculation issues.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data validation).
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused attitude.
Union payroll experience is an asset.
Self-motivated, organized, and dependable with strong follow-through.
