Senior Accountant - Audit

 

An Edmonton client is searching for a Senior Accountant - Audit to join their team.

Senior Accountant - Audit Highlights:

·         As a Senior Accountant - Audit you will play a pivotal role in leading and overseeing audit engagements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards. You will be responsible for executing audit procedures, identifying risks, evaluating financial statements, and preparing comprehensive audit reports. We are seeking a highly skilled individual with strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of auditing standards and accounting principles.

·         Responsibilities:

·         Lead and oversee the planning, scoping, and scheduling of audit engagements, considering client requirements, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.

·         Execute audit procedures, including testing of controls, substantive testing, analytical procedures, and other audit techniques to obtain sufficient and appropriate audit evidence.

·         Identify and assess risks and internal control weaknesses, and develop appropriate audit strategies and procedures to address them.

·         Review financial statements, disclosures, and other relevant documentation prepared by clients to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

·         Evaluate the accuracy and completeness of financial information, identify significant accounting issues, and propose adjustments or recommendations as necessary.

·         Prepare comprehensive audit reports summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations for improvement, and communicate results to clients and management.

·         Demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills in all aspects of audit engagements.

·         Stay abreast of changes in auditing standards, accounting principles (IFRS), and regulatory requirements, and ensure compliance in audit procedures.

·         Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines to deliver high-quality audit services.

·         Collaborate with colleagues and mentor junior staff to support their professional development and growth.

·         Requirements:

·         Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

·         CPA designation or pursuing CPA designation.

·         Minimum of 3 years of audit experience in public practice.

·         Strong knowledge of auditing standards, accounting principles (IFRS), and regulatory requirements.

·         Ability to lead audit engagements from planning to completion, demonstrating leadership and project management skills.

·         Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.

·         Detail-oriented and able to maintain accuracy while working under pressure.

Senior Accountant - Audit Hours & Wage

·         8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday

·         $80,000 - $90,000/year
